The First Sunday in Advent - Hope
Leader We light the first candle, the Candle of Prophecy, to remind us of all the years people waited in Hope for the coming of the Messiah and longed for God's Kingdom to be established. Advent 1

Prayer
Leader
Lord Jesus, long ago prophets told of a king who would come:
All You, Jesus, are the promised king.
Leader A king like no other - ever-loving, just and good:
All You, Jesus, are God's chosen king.
Leader
A king whose kingdom would be filled with love and peace:

All
You, Jesus, are our king.

Leader
A king to guide us in the ways of God, the way to live:

All
May you, Jesus, be King of our lives. Amen.

The Second Sunday in Advent - Faith
Leader We light the second candle, to remind us of the faith of God's people recorded in His word, the Bible - "a light for our way and a lamp for our path" - as they prepared for the birth of Jesus. Advent 2

Prayer:
Leader
Lord Jesus, You are our Advent light:
All Your birth brought God's light to us.
Leader You are our Christmas light:
All
In your light no one need be afraid.
Leader
You are the Light of the world:
All
Your light cannot be darkened.
Leader
You are the everlasting light:
All Hallelujah! Amen.
The Third Sunday in Advent - Joy
Leader We light the third candle to remind us of the joy the Lord gives to all who hear and believe the Good News of Christ's birth and the Gospel of the Kingdom announced by John the Baptist.

Prayer:
Leader
Heavenly Father, some choices are easy, some are not:
All
Help us to make the right choice.
Leader
Some choices help others, some are harmful:
All
Help us to make the right choice.
Leader
Some choices bring joy, others may cause hurt:
All Help us to make the right choice.
Leader May we listen to you as we make our choices:
All Help us to make the right choice, in Jesus' name, Amen.
The Fourth Sunday in Advent - Peace
Leader We the fourth candle to remind us of the message of the Angel to Mary, that she would bear Jesus, King of kings, Lord of lords and Prince of Peace.

Prayer:
Leader
My heart rejoices because God is my Saviour:
All My heart praises God.
Leader
From this time on, I will be blessed:
All
My heart praises God.
Leader He shows He cares for all who follow Him:
All My heart praises God.
Leader
He brings good things to those in need:

All
My heart praises God.

Leader
He always keeps His promises:

All
My heart praises God.

Leader
The Lord will never forget us:

All
My heart praises God, forever, in Jesus name, Amen.

Christmas Eve or Christmas Day - Love
Leader We have lit four candles to remind us of hope, faith, joy, and peace. Now we light the centre candle, the Christ Candle, to remind us who is at the centre of the Christmas story.

Prayer:
Leader
Heavenly Father, Long ago you spoke to the shepherds:
All
Thank you for the Good News of Jesus!
Leader
You sent a choir of angel messengers:
All Thank you for the Good News of Jesus!
Leader You told of the birth of a baby:
All Thank you for the Good News of Jesus!
Leader You told of the birth of a Saviour:
All Thank you for the Good News of Jesus!
Leader We praise you that He is our Saviour:
All Thank you for the Good News of Jesus, Amen.
